On October 18, UOS Drilling S.A. began drilling the Turek GT-2 geothermal well, which, together with the GT-1 well drilled in 2019, also by our company, will create a geothermal double. At the same time, Przedsiębiorstwo Gospodarki Komunalnej i Mieszkaniowej Sp. z o.o. in Turek, owned by the Municipality of Turek, is implementing an investment consisting in the construction of a geothermal heating plant.
This multi-million investment is co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management under the “Environment, Energy and Climate Change” programme, partly in the form of a grant and partly as part of a loan granted from NFOŚiGW funds.
The entire project consists of three main elements:
- Construction of the Turek GT-2 geothermal well;
- Construction of a pipeline connecting the existing Turek GT-1 geothermal well with the currently drilled Turek GT-2 well;
- Construction of a modern geothermal heating plant, using a heat exchanger and a compressor heat pump;
and its aim is to improve air quality, including reducing pollutant emissions through the following activities:
- use of geothermal water resources for heating purposes (in the scope of district heating);
- reduction of the consumption of non-renewable primary energy;
- reduction of CO2 emissions by the supplier of geothermal heat to the heating system.
This is another extremely important project for the development of geothermal energy in Poland!!! We are extremely proud to be a part of it. ♨️♨️♨️💦💦💦
